The Problem
Strength Training
The gym is always one of the best places to train, but sometimes you just don’t have the time nor the energy to do that. After a tiring day of work, you might not feel like heading someplace else, even if it’s just opposite your house. You just want to get home as quickly as possible.
Is there any way to put in a quick workout?
Not a lot of options exist, especially if you haven’t bought prior training equipment. Without weights like dumbbells, barbells, or even kettlebells, what can you really do?
The secret lies in your own body weight!
Why This Equipment?
With a chin up bar right at your very own home, you can workout any time you want. Literally. Even if it’s just a visit to the kitchen and back. The pull up bar can look so tempting, and you sometimes can’t help but just do a few pull ups. And that ultimately, is the reward of having a pull up bar. You get extra reps almost every day without realising it.
Pull ups are such great exercises since it focuses a lot on the upper body, especially the back. That V-shape torso that you’ve always wanted. That can be achieved through doing pull ups.
If you are looking to improve your strength, pull ups are definitely the way to help you do that. Coupled with other equipment like the bar bells, these items make for excellent training partners.
Features
What This Equipment Can Do For You
Multiple Grips
Good chin up bars have multiple grips that allow for a good hold on the bar. This is extremely important, since lower quality materials lose their grip after a couple of months, rendering the chin up bar almost useless.
Firm Grip
Most pull up bars are directly secured to doorframe. This can be a tricky issue, as poor materials would leave permanent marks on your walls and door frames. With padded contact points, it negates this problem entirely.
Sturdy Construction
Rather than you lifting weights, the chin up bar kind of lifts you. As such, it must be sturdy enough to support your body weight. Premier materials are therefore used to serve this purpose.
Easy Installation
Some pull up bars look really fancy and cool, but the installation process is a mess. We go by one-rule. All our pull-up bars must be able to be installed within 5 minutes. If not, we do not sell them. As simple as that.
How It works
4 Different Bar Types
Type 1:
Freestanding Chin Up Bar
Not unlike the ones that you find in your local gym, the biggest advantage that freestanding chin up bars offer are that they require neither mounting nor installation work. You buy it, and you can use it immediately.
However, it is not often the most popular choice amongst Singaporeans, since it does take up significant space. Instead, it is more suited for large houses where space isn’t a huge concern.
Type 2:
Ceiling Mounted Chin Up Bars
A valid alternative if you don’t have as much space in your house. These pull up bars are directly mounted on your ceiling. They are adjustable in height, so you can make sure the chin up bar is mounted at a comfortable position before fixing it.
It has a slightly tricker installation process than pull up bars mounted on door frames. However, with that, you also get the benefit of not having permanent damage on your doors.
Type 3:
Standard Chin Up Bar
These are the most standard and simplest pull up bars. Of course, they are of adjustable lengths, so you can be sure that they will into your doorway, no matter the width. They wedge between the two uprights of your doorframe.
Depending on the model, installation may or may not be required. Although as a general rule, those with installation needed generally offer better stability.
Type 4:
Portable Chin Up Bar
As the name suggest, these bars offer the most flexibility. You can fix them or take them out any time you want. They normally attach to the overhanging edge at the top of the door.
However, this feature is not present in most doors. As such, not every house can utilise such doors. Still, it is the most portable option out there, and requires absolutely no installation.
Step 1:
Standard Bar
Out of al the different bars, this is the most common. After all, this is the standard bar. It is probably what you have been using during your gym workouts.
It is around 2.5cm in diameter, and 220cm in length. This allows you to easily pile on weight on either side of the bar.
Step 2:
Powerlifting Bars
As the name suggests, these bars are used mainly for powerlifting. Since weight is the most important factor here, these bars are generally less flexible and more rigid. This allows the bar to remain firm, even when loaded with plentiful weight.
Most lifters opt for a powerlifting bar if they train with weights more than 150kg. They come at a slightly higher cost too, since the steel has to be more robust to support the additional weight.
