Senior Citizen TRAINING

No reason to fret. As we get older every year, it is normal for our body to start deteriorating. We might start finding the activities that were a breeze for us previously, more physically demanding now. However, with some active training, not only can you get back to where you were, you can also feel younger and more full of life.
At MyFitnessComrade, we have customised training programs just for you. It is important to note that what works for you when you were in your 20s, 30s, or even 40s, is usually not as helpful now that you’ve reach your 50s. Instead, a different approach has to be taken. If you continue training as you did previously, not only does have a negative impact on your overall health and fitness, you could also end up injuring yourself. There could be long-term damage to you joints, tendons, ligaments, muscles or bones.

Types of Training
A lot of people might think that personal training for the elderly would just be the normal trainings done at an easier pace. That is not the case. Whilst the trainings are conducted at lower intensity, they are not at all the same trainings as the ones for individuals under 50s.
Instead, what we do is shift the focus away from muscle development. For example, to minimise pain symptoms, we develop exercises that aim to strengthen the bones and joints. This decreases the chance of one being inflicted with arthritis or other general joint pains as one gets older.

Not only do we focus on the physical, we also help with the mental aspect. It might be easier to fight through challenges and pain in training when you were younger. However, as you get older, you have less energy and lower pain tolerance. We are keenly aware of this, and therefore place great importance in taking care of the mental well-being too.

Actual Exercises
So what kind of exercises do we conduct?
Instead of muscle-building, we place greater emphasis on exercises that aid in everyday functional moments. You will find yourself being able to walk a longer distance, and able to carry objects around without any problems. Over time, these programs are meant to help you live a much more independent life. You age more graciously, and find greater joy in the simpler things more often.
All these exercises all conducted with low-intensity and at low-impact. Our trainers are highly experienced and professional, and will make sure the exercises are all at a suitable level for you.
